We arrived after the lunch rush was slowing down. The service was very poor. Our host was not friendly. He walked us to our table and just walked away before we had even sat down. We felt like we were imposing on him. Our server acted confused when we ordered and made us feel like we were ordering wrong. Maybe we could have used some help at that point. He just seemed annoyed with us. The Tao Tao Beef was wonderful as usual. The Sweet and Sour Pork was very good. The Chinese Chicken Salad which I have always enjoyed was very dry and flavorless. I would never order it again. The rice was dry and barely warm. As the server took my signed receipt he reached over my "doggie bag", over my purse, and over my wallet to grab his tip. And he was off. Not a good experience.

I've been going here for 30 years. Always great. Until about 2 years ago. New management? New cook(s)? All I know is that you never know whether you're going to get the "good" Tao Tao or the "bad" Tao Tao. And the bad is really pretty bad......

We got take-out from Tao Tao and it was gross. Very greasy and the meat (pork ribs, BBQ pork) was fatty and dry - tasted several weeks old. Not sure if the food is better in the restaurant, but won't be finding out.

We have been going to Tao Tao for over 25 years. Though we have moved all over the bay area, it continues to be the Chinese restaurant that we compare all other Chinese restaurants to. The perfect order is WonTon Soup, Chicken Salad (best ever), Tao Tao Beef (best ever), Sesame Chicken, and Pork Fried Rice. If you happen to have left overs, they won't make it to the next morning. The food calls to you from the fridge........it's that good!

Our first experience eating at this restaurant was quite enjoyable. We ordered one of their dinners for two and it was enough food for four. Although I wouldn't say the chicken salad is to die for, it is very good, as is the Tao Tao beef, which was very tender. The almond duck tasted fine, it was just a little stiff. The wontons in the soup were tasty. It was very busy, but service was fine and the restaurant was nice. Definitely worth trying, and we'll be back to sample more of the menu.
